Gold trading scam red flags to check before you deposit

Promises that no honest provider can make

  • Guaranteed or fixed profits, or very high returns with no risk.
  • Screenshots of winning trades and lifestyle photos used as proof.
  • Testimonials you cannot verify. A review is not evidence.

Every legitimate provider has to say that you can lose money. If someone tells you otherwise, leave.

Pressure and secrecy

  • Urgency: a limited slot, a bonus that expires today, or a 'market opportunity' that cannot wait.
  • Asking you to move to a private chat app and not tell anyone.
  • Pushing you to deposit more to unlock withdrawals, or to pay a fee, tax or 'verification' charge before a withdrawal.

Someone else trades your money

  • An 'account manager' or 'copy trading' service that asks for your login or a transfer to their wallet or bank account.
  • A 'signal group' that sells entries and shows only winners.
  • A platform or app that is not the broker's own official one.

Never share your trading password or send money to a private individual.

Checks you can do yourself

  1. Find the licence number on the regulator's own website and confirm the company name, status and permissions match. Do not rely on a link supplied by the provider.
  2. Check that the provider is permitted to serve residents of your country, and look for warnings about it from your national regulator.
  3. Search the company name with 'scam' or 'warning' and read official notices, not paid reviews.
  4. Read the withdrawal terms and fees before depositing, and test with a small amount you can lose.

Go through the broker checklist item by item.

If you think you have been scammed

Stop sending money, keep screenshots and records, and report it to your national financial regulator and police. Be cautious with 'recovery services' that contact you offering to get your money back for a fee, since they are a common second scam.
